Spotlight on the Staff: Emma Fazeli

LA Best Babies Network’s Staff Spotlight series features staff from the Welcome Baby, Healthy Families America, and Parents as Teachers home visiting programs in Los Angeles County’s Family Strengthening Network.

Emma Fazeli’s journey into the home visiting field is rooted in both professional purpose and personal experience. She has served as a Hospital Liaison for the Welcome Baby program at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills for the past seven years.

Before stepping into this role, Emma worked with the Parents as Teachers home visiting program at El Nido Family Centers in the San Fernando Valley.

Her commitment to this work deepened when her own family experienced the impact of these services firsthand. “My sister and my nephew received services from El Nido during a very challenging time. El Nido truly showed up for her by providing guidance, connections to resources, and compassionate support when she needed it most. Seeing her feel supported during such a vulnerable time stayed with me and inspired me to pursue this work,” said Emma.

That inspiration eventually led her to work with El Nido herself, where she saw again how culturally responsive, community-based care can truly change lives.

In her current role at Providence Holy Cross, she serves as a vital connection point, helping families with newborns get free support through Welcome Baby, along with other resources they need to thrive. Whether she’s supporting a new parent, answering questions, or ensuring families feel seen and heard, her work centers on building trust and access.

Maria Magana, Manager, of the Welcome Baby program at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, says Emma consistently demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to the families in the community, “Her culturally responsive approach and commitment to equity ensure families feel seen, respected, and supported. Her approach is critical, since she is responsible for enrolling patients at bedside after delivery, a time of great vulnerability for many of our patients.”

Emma says one of the most meaningful aspects of her work is seeing returning clients and hearing about the positive impact Welcome Baby and the support services have had on their journeys in parenthood. “It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of a network that uplifts families and promotes healthier communities,” said Emma.
