Spotlight on the Staff: Lynnette Bello, Welcome Baby Program Manager

March is Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the contributions of women around the world. In the video below, Lynnette Bello, a leader in our L.A. County home visiting network, looks at how her mother and grandmother contributed to the community — and inspired her to serve others.

“I have a little daughter and I tell her to move mountains — we can work together to move a mountain,” Lynnette says. As the Program Manager for Welcome Baby at MemorialCare Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital Long Beach since the program started in 2013, she and her team have done a lot of heavy lifting. Along with St. Mary Medical Center’s Welcome Baby program, the Miller team has helped thousands of pregnant people and families with newborns in Long Beach. Through her work with Best Start Central Long Beach and other community groups, Lynnette is a big believer in the power of collaboration. She’s also an active lactation consultant, and she is open about the challenges she faced while breastfeeding and how she overcame them. She shared her story with Breastfeed LA in hopes of helping other mothers.

Happy Women’s History Month, and a big thanks to Lynnette and the many other women in our network who are moving mountains every day for L.A. County families!

(Note: This video was recorded for Women’s History Month in 2021 … but we think it still holds up!)
