Spotlight on the Staff: Lisa Ramos
In November 2026, Lisa Ramos, Program Supervisor at El Nido Family Centers in the San Fernando Valley, will celebrate an incredible milestone: 30 years with El Nido.
For nearly three decades, Lisa has dedicated her career to supporting children, families, and the professionals who serve them. What began as a college job has grown into a lifelong passion for making a meaningful difference in her community.
Lisa’s family-support journey began while she was in college, working as a Site Director at the YMCA. After earning her degree in Child Development with an interdisciplinary emphasis in Child Mental Health, Lisa transitioned into case management, where she was able to work one-on-one with families and provide more individualized support.
In 1996, Lisa joined El Nido Family Centers as a Case Manager with the Adolescent Family Life Program. After five years, she transitioned into the role of Community Liaison, where she built partnerships, connected families with valuable resources, facilitated support groups, and led financial literacy workshops.
“Being the Community Liaison really allowed me to learn more about my community and discover new ways to support the families we served,” she says.
Over the years, Lisa has supervised a variety of programs at El Nido, including Adolescent Family Life, Cal-Learn, the Siblings Program, AIM 4 Teen Moms, and, since 2014, the Select Home Visitation program.
Lisa says that in her current role she loves being able to help others on her team discover what they’re capable of.
“I truly enjoy mentoring staff to help them recognize and develop their potential,” she says. “I enjoy providing guidance, connecting them with appropriate resources, and empowering them to deliver quality support to the families they serve.”
For Lisa, one of the most rewarding aspects of her career has been watching the people she’s mentored continue to grow long after they’ve moved into new roles. “It is especially meaningful when they reach out to share how the guidance and support they received has influenced their journey,” she says.
Her impact extends far beyond the families she has served. Through her dedication to mentorship, she has helped shape the next generation of professionals who continue to strengthen families and communities every day.
“I first met Lisa in 2012 when I began as a supervisor under the Teen Family Program at El Nido. Immediately I could see Lisa’s passion and dedication to the clients, to the staff, to the agency, and to the community at large. When I began working directly with Lisa at the inception of the Select Home Visitation program, I really got to see and experience all of Lisa’s skills, knowledge, and commitment. Lisa is someone who practices and lives what she believes in. She is first to advocate for clients and staff, prioritizing quality of services, and continuing to learn and grow with professional development and taking on new challenges. I am grateful to have Lisa on our SHV team. ”
