About the presenter:

Stephanie Gaw, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at UCSF. She completed her medical degree, and her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology, at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York through the Medical Scientist Training Program. She completed her residency training in OB/GYN at UCSF, and a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at UCLA. She has a long-standing interest in global infectious disease and maternal-child health, which started from her service as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Honduras and has led to her current research in perinatal infections. Her laboratory group conducts translational research on placental infections, including malaria in pregnancy, Zika virus, and more recently, SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy and lactation.
