Webinar: How Home Visitors Can Help Families Prevent and Respond to Domestic Violence

[Update: An additional resource was added to the resource list below on August 31, 2022.]

More than 12 million each year — or, on average, 24 people per minute.

That’s how many victims there are of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States each year, according to the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

But home visiting programs can help. Rebecca Levenson, a consultant to Futures Without Violence, shows how in her webinar “Healthy Moms Happy Babies: Healing Approaches to Preventing and Responding to Domestic Violence in Home Visitation Programs.” After explaining the impact of domestic violence on women’s perinatal health and their birth outcomes, she provides tools home visitors can use to help prevent domestic violence and to support families who have experienced it. She also talks to home visitors about how dealing with these issues can affect them, and what they can do to take care of themselves.

LA Best Babies Network hosted this webinar on August 9, 2019, for Welcome Baby Parent Coaches and other home visitors in Los Angeles County’s Family Strengthening Network.
