Spotlight on the Staff: Lorena Gutierrez

Family Support Specialist Lorena Gutierrez is so good that even a mom with four kids raves about all the new parenting tips Lorena gave her and her husband. (See this blog post for more about this mom and her family, and see the video below.)

Currently serving families in the San Fernando Valley with Pacific Asian Counseling Services (PACSLA), Lorena has been a home visitor for nearly 12 years.

At LABBN, we appreciate how quick Lorena is to help when we ask to profile a family or spread the word about home visiting in other ways. In 2019, Lorena brought a client to our annual Family Strengthening Network Summit, where they both appeared on a panel (see video below). And Lorena recorded a video (also below) to help promote Home Visiting Day in 2023. (You can record one too — just go here. It only takes a minute!)

After all these years, Lorena stays excited about the work and is grateful to be doing it. “I still enjoy visiting the families and seeing how they learn to read their baby’s cues and how they show affection to their babies,” she says. “I am blessed to have the opportunity to see so much love in the homes and how babies and young children pour out love to me too. Just to see how they smile at me and get excited when talking to them — it is just so awesome.”

Thanks, Lorena, for all your wonderful work with families in L.A. County over the years!
