Family Strengthening Training: The Quick Pitch and the Long Haul
Training requirements for Family Strengthening Network staff are rigorous and extensive: Welcome Baby RN’s, Parent Coaches, and Hospital Liaisons log up to 180 hours in workshops, and that’s on top of training they receive to become Certified Lactation Educators. With sessions on infant brain development, perinatal depression, and family violence, the training can be demanding and intense.
But that doesn’t mean there’s no time for fun.
In the videos below, Welcome Baby staff members at the latest Communications and Outreach training practice pitching the Welcome Baby program to prospective clients.
The role-play in the first video shows some of the challenges a Welcome Baby Hospital Liaison might face when explaining the program to a new mom in her hospital room. In the second video, an Outreach Specialist delivers her Welcome Baby “elevator pitch” to a pregnant mom (and her two very active children) in the park.
