Webinar: Los Angeles County’s Substance Use Disorder System of Care – Perinatal Services

The most recent data show that about 2 million people in Los Angeles County use substances in an unhealthy or hazardous manner.

Substance use disorder (SUD) affects the lives of many — not just those who are diagnosed. When pregnant women and parents of young children struggle with SUD, the impact on their children can be profound and permanent.

Our recent webinar for staff of the Family Strengthening Network featured a presentation by Maurilio Mendez and Natalie Manns from the L.A. County Department of Public Health – Substance Abuse Prevention and Control. They discussed substance use disorder (SUD), the services available for these individuals — including pregnant and parenting women — and how home visitors can help connect their clients to services.
